You can participate in this digital care group session on your own or with your friends and family. Feel free to use this guide to follow the conversation with our pastors, use it for your time of study, or facilitate more conversations with your community.
This session is based on the message:
- Joseph Prince—Fresh Truths For Parenting Today (Mar 3, 2024) [Sermon notes]
1. The anointing of God brings ease and smoothness
The anointing of God can make things effortlessly easy, just as how oil lubricates creaky door hinges. When the anointing is upon you, there is a flow. You will find that there is an effortless ease, whether it’s in the area of your parenting, business, work, or family, where your own strength, intellect, and skills may not be enough.
Instead of relying on your strength and abilities to meet your challenges, tap into His anointing!
So he answered and said to me:
“This is the word of the LORD to Zerubbabel:
‘Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,’
Says the LORD of hosts.
—Zechariah 4:6
TALK IT OVER
Take a moment to consider if there are areas in your life where you feel stuck or things aren’t moving smoothly.
2. The secret to growing in the anointing of God
The secret is found in the person of Jesus!
The word “Christ” means “the Anointed One.” The anointing is found in the person of Jesus, and anointing comes by association. When you are in close proximity to Jesus, you will come in contact with and experience His anointing!
The blood of Jesus has qualified us to enter and remain in the upper room, close to the Anointed One! When you are near the Anointed One, you will experience the anointing that destroys every bondage, addiction, fear, anxiety, infirmity, and weakness.
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;
You anoint my head with oil;
My cup runs over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
All the days of my life;
And I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
—Psalm 23:5-6
In Middle Eastern shepherding culture, the shepherd anoints the sheep with oil, which repels flies from bothering them. The oil on the sheep’s head protects them from harm. Similarly, Jesus, your good Shepherd, anoints your head with oil, protecting you and preventing the enemy from sowing seeds of wrong beliefs and fears in your life.
3. Own the Word
OWN THE WORD
Surround yourself with anointed teaching and worship
This week, stay close to the Shepherd, the Anointed One, our Lord Jesus.
Anointing comes by association! One way to stick close to the Shepherd is by listening to anointed preaching and especially preaching about the person of our Lord Jesus and His grace!
Every time we come together on Sundays to worship and receive the Word together with our online church family, fresh oil is imparted. We experience God’s corporate anointing and presence when we gather. You will not leave a service the same way you came.
In your own time throughout the week, you can also check out the Joseph Prince Ministries YouTube channel for curated sermon content that you can feed on. Meditate on the truths shared and ponder on the beauty of Jesus.
Surround yourself and your household with anointed preaching and anointed worship. As you do so, the anointing of God will bring ease and flow where there was once striving and frustration, and in the presence of the Anointed One, you will go forth and do great works!

Questions about this topic
- In situations where I feel stuck and things seem to not be progressing at all, when is it appropriate to trust God for His anointing and when should I let go?
Under grace, the Lord leads us through His Word, by His Spirit, and with godly counsel.
Whatever situation you’re facing today, the Lord has wisdom for you in His Word. If you are faced with certain decisions that you don’t know how to make, go to His Word. He can lead you from His Word (Isaiah 48:17) and by the anointed preaching of His Word.
The Lord can also lead you by His Spirit, and the Holy Spirit guides us on the wavelength of peace. If you start doing something and you find that there is no peace within, perhaps, it is not the right decision or you can continue seeking the Lord about it first.
Lastly, the Lord can also lead you through wise and godly counsel. There is safety in the multitude of counselors (Proverbs 11:14) and He can use leaders or mentors in your church to speak to you. The Lord can use them to confirm what the Word and the Spirit have shown you or they can also shed light on areas you may have overlooked.
